If I choose to use MYCAP, are there any obligations for me or my students?
No. MYCAP is a free service to you and your students. Colleges and Universities subscribe to MYCAP in order to search student profiles.
How can I be sure MYCAP is safe and secure for my students?
Security was a top priority when we designed MYCAP.com.
As part of our website design we have purchased the best in secure software. You will notice at the bottom right hand corner of your screen a .lock. icon. This identifies a secure website. You can feel confident that you and your students are protected.
Also, much like we made required personal contact with you to confirm your account, MYCAP staff confirms every college and university subscriber before they are allowed to search MYCAP student profiles.
Will my students' information be sold?
No.
How does MYCAP work?
Students fill out a FREE and SECURE online profile that includes the typical academic information required by most colleges and universities. However, MYCAP also gives your student the opportunity to include details on what kind of school they are looking for.
Admissions officers can then search, not only based on academic requirements, but also on things such as the quality of life requirements for each student. (i.e. A student might be looking for a small school on the east coast that has a strong physics program as well as opportunities for campus employment and intramural sports participation)
At MYCAP we believe that if a student wants to continue their education beyond high school they can; there is a school that is a perfect fit. With so many higher education choices today, MYCAP helps bring those students and schools together.
How can MYCAP assist me in helping my student.s with their college search?
MYCAP allows high school guidance counselors to track activity between their students and college and university admission offices. In addition, once a student creates a profile, high school guidance counselors can attach a short character evaluation to help admission offices recruit their students. MYCAP helps you to bring the most options to your students while helping you organize information in one convenient location.
